SIP Trunks

SIP Trunks

Stride IT presents a proven and reliable range of SIP trunk solutions, representing the cutting-edge evolution of traditional phone lines like PSTN and ISDN. With the widespread adoption of the NBN (National Broadband Network), SIP trunks have emerged as a crucial communication backbone. They’re adaptable across diverse networks, including the public Internet. Stride IT’s SIP trunks seamlessly link up with your existing phone systems, whether situated on your premises, within secure data centres, or dispersed throughout the online realm.

What Are SIP Trunks?

SIP trunks, or Session Initiation Protocol trunks, are the modern successors to traditional phone lines. Serving as a direct replacement for conventional PSTN or ISDN lines, SIP trunks are the next generation of phone connectivity. With the NBN rollout, SIP trunks have become essential, and they can operate over various networks, including the public Internet. These trunks allow for the transmission of voice, video, and other multimedia communications using the same Internet Protocol (IP) network that powers the Internet itself.

Recognising the paramount importance of accurate setup and configuration, our team ensures that SIP trunks are expertly implemented to yield superior call quality—surpassing that of conventional phone services like PSTN and ISDN. Backed by rigorous testing in collaboration with third-party PBX vendors, Stride IT’s SIP trunks stand as a testament to reliability and efficiency.

Our SIP Trunks seamlessly integrate with any phone system and work with our offerings of 3CX phone Systems, Microsoft Teams, our Hosted PBX or as a stand-alone VOIP number.

How Can SIP Trunks Help?

Business-grade phone service that minimises costs.

Achieve the ideal balance between an onsite system and IP telephony with a SIP trunking service. This phone service, enriched with additional features delivered via the Internet, allows you to improve your current phone system’s utility without investing in new hardware.

Boost your communication efficiency by removing the necessity for separate voice and data links. A SIP service enables you to fully utilise your internet bandwidth by incorporating voice traffic into your current setup, thus eliminating the requirement for line rental on seldom-used lines.

Facilitate communication among staff and between locations with complimentary Stride IT to Stride IT calls within the same account. Moreover, benefit from competitive rates for local, national, mobile, and 13/1300 calls without incurring extra fees for flagfall or connection charges.

What is the Difference between DIDs and Extensions?

Many of our SIP plans with Stride IT offer various numbers of extensions and DIDs. While sometimes used interchangeably, it’s important to understand that these terms refer to distinct features.

DIDs are the numbers external callers use to contact you. Conversely, an extension refers to an internal number assigned to each office device, such as phones, fax machines, and central voicemail boxes (called voicemail-only extensions). There’s no requirement for the quantity of your DID numbers and extensions to match.

Each extension can possess its unique DID, allowing external callers to reach it directly. Alternatively, some extensions might share a DID number (for instance, a customer service team). It’s also possible to have DIDs not tied to any extension, directing callers to phones outside your network (like a live answering service or a mobile phone).
